Andrés Martínez has been a prominent figure in the world of 3D animation and visual effects for over 30 years. Recognized for his work on major films such as “Mission Impossible II,” “The Matrix” sequels, “Superman Returns,” “Spiderman 3,” “I Am Legend,” and “Dune 2,” Martínez combines technical skill with artistic flair to create stunning digital landscapes across film, television, and game cinematics.

His career, fueled by his childhood love of animation and cinematography, led him to become the Head of the Virtual Cinematography Department at ESC. There, he played a crucial role in the CG achievements of several iconic films and later continued his journey at Sony Imageworks, Digital Domain, and Pixomondo.

In 2000, he founded 3Dmatter, a visual effects company recently involved in Virtual Production projects. In addition, in 2013 he co-founded LosFX, a 2D animation powerhouse where he served as supervising animation producer, working on titles such as “HarmonQuest,” “Rick & Morty,” “UniKitty,” “Axe Cop,” “Community,” and for clients including Universal Studios, Disney, Warner Brothers, and AdultSwim.

Martínez’s work is defined by his deep understanding of lighting, shadow, timing, and composition, adding realism and depth to his creations. His focus on detail ensures that every element of his work contributes to the overall narrative.

Beyond his cinematic achievements, Martínez is deeply committed to education and mentorship, particularly in Latin America. Born in Colombia, he actively participates in workshops and conferences, inspiring and guiding emerging artists in the region. He is an active member of the Visual Effects Society and Siggraph, where he has been a keynote speaker at several chapters and international conferences.
